M-1 Marine is a moisture cure marine adhesive/sealant formulated for applications above or, post cure, below the water line. M-1 Marine is free of solvents, phthalates and isocyanates, will not shrink upon curing or discolor from ultraviolet exposure, and will not bubble on damp surfaces. This marine sealant adheres to many surfaces usually without priming - including teak, fiberglass, vinyl, glass, FRP and metal - forming a strong bond, yet remaining resilient and flexible after cure. M-1 Marine can be applied in wet or dry climates and at temperatures as low as 32°F (0°C).
Installation
When using our marine sealant & adhesive, bonding surfaces must be clean, dry and free of oxidation, mill oils, wax, and release agents that may interfere with adhesion. Dry and fully cure painted surfaces before bonding. Isopropyl alcohol is an effective cleaner for surface preparation. Abraded or irregular surfaces are acceptable bonding surfaces but must be clean and sound. For use with teak, wipe with alcohol prior to application to remove surface oils. M-1 Marine Grade Structural Adhesive/Sealant is a gun grade material that is applied from caulking guns, high viscosity pump guns, or automated bead application equipment. This marine adhesive sets rapidly upon exposure to moisture.
